Ms Tey Huey Shan

About Me

Shan is a licensed and registered counsellor with the Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (LKM). She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from Imperial College London before pursuing her Master’s in Counselling at Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Shan brings a strong foundation in both school and community settings, with experience supporting children, adolescents, families, and adults through a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges. She has worked extensively with students, providing individual and group counselling using evidence-based approaches such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and mindfulness-based practices.
Her work includes supporting neurodiverse learners, guiding students in career exploration and transition planning, and collaborating closely with teachers and parents to create holistic support systems that help each student thrive both academically and emotionally.
Beyond her professional role, Shan is actively involved in mental health advocacy through community education initiatives with Tzu Chi International Medical Association (TIMA) Johor Bahru, where she promotes emotional well-being and resilience across different age groups.
Fluent in Mandarin, English, and Malay, Shan is passionate about creating safe and culturally attuned spaces for individuals to pause, reflect, and reconnect with their inner strengths. She is committed to integrating counselling, mindfulness, and community support to help people navigate life’s transitions with clarity and compassion.
