Empowering Educators to Recognise and Support Diverse Learners

Every student processes and interacts with the classroom environment differently. To address these evolving classroom dynamics, the Raffles University Psychological Wellness Centre recently hosted a targeted professional learning session titled “Recognising Students with Additional Needs in the Classroom.”

Led by Clinical Psychologist Mr. Ahmad Aqrabin Syah and Counsellor Ms Tey Huey Shan, the interactive session provided school leaders, SEN coordinators, and learning support staff with practical tools to identify and assist diverse learners.

Key Insights from the Session

Behaviour as Communication: Understanding the underlying motives behind classroom actions to respond with targeted support rather than reactive discipline.

The ABC Behaviour Framework: Applying Antecedent-Behaviour-Consequence tracking to systematically identify triggers and effectively guide student interactions.

Proactive Classroom Strategies: Implementing inclusive management techniques that accommodate unique learning styles without disrupting overall classroom flow.

Raffles University remains committed to advancing educational practices and supporting school communities. Stay connected for future workshops designed to enhance teaching strategies and promote student mental well-being!
