Loving Me, Myself, and I: Celebrating Self-Care and Wellbeing on International Self-Care Day
On 22 July 2026, the Raffles University Psychological Centre (RUPC) hosted “Loving Me, Myself, and I”, a dedicated self-care event to mark International Self-Care Day. Led by Mr Jayson Lew, the session brought together staff and students for an engaging day focused on mental health, resilience, and personal wellbeing.
Exploring the Importance of Self-Care
In today’s fast-paced world, self-care is frequently misunderstood as an indulgence or acts of selfishness, rather than a fundamental necessity. During the session, Mr Jayson emphasised the vital role of nurturing our mental, emotional, and physical health, demonstrating how small, intentional habits can significantly improve overall quality of life. Participants were encouraged to reflect on their current routines and explore practical ways to integrate meaningful self-care into their daily lives.
Interactive Activities to Promote Wellbeing
To translate these insights into practice, participants took part in two hands-on activities designed to reinforce the day’s core themes:
The Self-Care Breathing Booth: Participants learned accessible, evidence-based breathing techniques to reduce stress, regulate emotions, and cultivate inner calm during challenging moments.
The Self-Care Commitment Wall: Attendees were invited to write down a personal wellbeing promise—ranging from prioritising restful sleep and exercise to setting boundaries and spending time with loved ones. The wall quickly became a vibrant display of shared commitment to intentional living.
