Cultivating Resilience: Fostering a Growth Mindset at Raffles University
On 24 June 2026, RUPC Wellness Coach Dr Shubashini hosted an interactive workshop at Raffles University, dedicated to one of the most critical skills for modern university life: the development of a growth mindset. In an era defined by rapid change, the ability to adapt is more than just an academic asset—it is a vital tool for long-term personal and professional success.
Moving Beyond the Fixed Mindset
For many students, the pressure to succeed can often lead to a “fixed mindset,” where challenges are perceived as threats to one’s competence rather than opportunities for growth. To bridge this gap, Dr Shubashini facilitated a series of interactive games and activities designed to help students:
Identify Internal Barriers: Recognising how fixed thought patterns limit our approach to setbacks and effort.
Reframe Failure: Transforming mistakes from sources of discouragement into valuable data points for development.
Build Persistence: Implementing practical, evidence-based strategies to sustain effort when faced with complex academic demands.
By creating a safe and engaging space for reflection, the session encouraged students to move away from viewing difficulties as limitations and instead embrace them as essential stepping stones in their educational journey.
Why Mindset Matters: We believe that cultivating a growth mindset is the bedrock of resilience. By equipping university students with these psychological tools, we are not just supporting their current studies—we are helping them evolve into future-ready graduates capable of thriving in an ever-evolving global industry.
